Why an orange jersey?
Wearing an orange jersey means being part of a team of players who are open to learning from one another. Orange Jersey Project is free for all minor hockey teams across Turtle Island for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. The project will open to other sports in the coming season. Stay tuned for announcements and to find out how you can sign up for the next season.
“Sports [can be] a vessel to leave your life behind for that brief period of time while playing sports. It helps clear your mind and spirit.”
Background
Orange Jersey Project works to create awareness of the intergenerational impacts of Indian Residential Schools and strengthen the path toward truth and reconciliation with Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Peoples.
